1962: Three convicts dug their way out of Alcatraz using a spoon

1964: Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment in South Africa

1991: Mount Pinatubo Volcano in Philippines erupted

1991: Boris Yelstin was elected as the president of the Russian Federation

1993: Late M.K.O Abiola won the Nigerian Presidential election which was annulled

1994: Pope John Paul II visited Spain

2004: George Bush, the former President of the United States of America Celebrated his 80th birthday by skydiving

2008: Irish voters rejected the treaty of Lisbon

2014: The 2014 FIFA world cup tournament opened in Brazil
