1809: Sweden declared its Independence as it was separated from Finland

1844: Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) was established in London

1875: The Netherlands went on the gold standard

1882: Tropical storm on the Arabian Sea in India drowned 100,000 people

1914: The 1st out of sight of land flight travelled from Scotland to Norway

1919: Finland declared war on Bolsheviks

1932: The United States Federal gas tax was enacted

1944: Nazi troops executed 96 prisoners by firing squad

1967: Israeli troops occupied Gaza

1972: 427 people died after the world’s largest coal mine exploded

1982: 30,000 Israeli troops invaded Lebanon

1993: Ramiro De Leon Carpio became the President of Guatemala

1994: 1000 people were killed after an earthquake destroyed Toez in Colombia

2005: Apple computer announced their decision to switch to Intel processors in 2006

2012: A Solar Plane landed in Morocco after it completed the world’s 1st intercontinental flight powered by the sun.

2012: An earthquake hit The Republic of Ireland off the Mayo coast
