1839: Declaration of rights got signed in Hawaii

1863: French troops seized Mexico City

1905: Norway dissolved its union with Sweden

1926: Vatican City became a sovereign state

1939:  George VI and Elizabeth became the 1st King and Queen of England to visit USA

1946: The United States Supreme court banned discrimination in interstate travel

1955: Eisenhower became the 1st President to appear on coloured television

1965: King Hassan of Morocco suspended the constitution and grabbed power forcefully

1982: President Reagan met with Pope John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth

1988: Aluminium contaminated water supply in parts of England

1989: Surinam SLM-173 (DC-8) crashed near Paramaribo Airport leaving 173 people dead

1990: South African President F W Klerk lifted the 4 year state of emergency in the country

2011: Nintendo’s Wii U video game was introduced

2012: The President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez announced her decision to switch her personal savings from the US dollars to the Argentine Peso

2013: The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin and his wife announced their divorce after 30 years of marriage on live television
