COURT IN BENIN SENTENCES STEPMOTHER AND 2 OTHERS TO DEATH BY HANGING OVER THE KILLING OF A TODDLER


 
 
            Three convicts, Betty Stephen, Johnson Ogbeide and Nancy Aiwuyor were sentenced to death by hanging today  by a High Court in Benin over the murder of a toddler(3). The convicts committed the offence 7 years ago on the 24th of February, 2009 at Erhiborhibo village in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

            According to the judge, Justice Geraldine Imadegbelo, it was stated that the prosecution proved one of the convicts, Betty Stephen who was the stepmother of the deceased gave the 3 year old girl to Johnson Ogbeide (a teacher), who in turn handed the toddler over to his colleague, Nancy Aiwuyor who then sold the child to ritualists for N1.5million. The Stepmother later confessed to selling the child after interrogations by her parents.
