On Friday, a High Court in London
awarded a former supermodel, Christina Estrada alimony worth £75 million from
her billionaire ex-husband, Sheikh Juffali.
According to the U.K Daily Mail,
Christina separated from Sheikh Juffali after 13 years of Marriage. Following
the divorce, the former supermodel, Cristina Estrada initially demanded for £196
million from Sheikh Juffali which according to her was to meet her ‘reasonable
needs’. According to her, the reasonable needs included; 2 luxury houses, a
huge cloth budget and 5 car. Her request wasn’t granted, however, a settlement
of £37 million was given to her which she declined. She was finally awarded a £53
million cash settlement by a High Court in London and according to lawyers, the
pay-out is worth £75 million when the assets already in her possession are
being taken into consideration.
The case surprised several people
after Christina Estrada claimed her ‘needs’ included £1 million for clothes, £40,000
for fur coats, and £109,000 for haute couture dresses and £21,000 for shoes
every year. She also requested for enough money to buy a luxury house in London
worth about £60 million and another house in the country worth about £4.4
million.
The Judge, Mrs Justice Roberts
said she could not accept that Christina Estrada needs a house worth 60 million
as comfortable homes can be gotten for less.
Lawyers also stated that the
award received by Estrada was the largest ever needs award made by an English
Court.
