Historical events that took place on the 28th of July
 

1896: The US City of Miami was incorporated

1914: The World War I began when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia

1928: The 9th Olympic Games opened in Amsterdam

1943: President Franklin D. Roosevelt announced the end of coffee rationing in the United States

1945: An Airplane crashed into the Empire State Building

1962: 19 people were killed after a train crashed in Steelton, Pennsylvania

1976: At least 242,000 people died as a result of an earthquake in Tientsin-Tangshan, China

1980: Peru adopted its constitution

1984: The 23rd modern Olympic Games opened in Los Angeles

1986: A Bomb blast left 25 dead in East Beirut

2013: In Northern region, vigilante leader, Aliko Musa, and his group stormed villages, to hunt Boko Haram members, but they retaliated with big fire power.  Five vigilantes and twenty civilians were killed.

2014: 2 separate blasts by 2 female suicide bombers in Kano State, Nigeria left 3 dead and 13 others injured

2015: Barack Obama became the first United States president to address the African Union, which includes 54 nations as members
