1914: Germany and Turkey signed a secret treaty

1922: About 60,000 people died after China was hit by a typhoon

1934: Adolph Hitler became the commander-in-chief of Germany

1944: Turkey cut off diplomatic ties with Nazi-Germany

1980: 86 people were killed following a fascist bomb attack on an Italian train station

1985: Delta Lockheed L-1011 crashed at Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport killing 137 people

1990: Iraq invaded and occupied Kuwait

1993: A train crash in a Spanish tunnel left 12 people dead

1997: Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, anti-military dictatorship activist, social maverick and pan-Africanist, Fela Anikulapo Kuti died of AIDS
