NYSC MANAGEMENT REFUTES NEWS GOING ROUND ABOUT ITS PLAN TO SCRAP THE NYSC SCHEME

The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a statement about the new date for the NYSC Batch A (Stream 2) Orientation stated explicitly that no plans are being made towards the scrapping of the Scheme.

It was stated that there is no person or official that can singlehandedly come to that kind of conclusion as the NYSC Scheme came into existence through a decree in 1973 and can only be terminated through a constitutional amendment by the National Assembly of which there is none currently being reviewed or examined. Members of the public and prospective corps members should disregard any information of such nature.

As regards the 2016, Batch A (Stream 2) orientation date, delays were attributed to unreleased funds from the Federal Government of Nigeria. However, the date will be announced soon as the Federal Government has given its word about releasing the funds for the Program.
