THE NIGERIAN POLICE IMPLEMENT 'NO TATTOO POLICY' FOR PROSPECTIVE RECRUITMENT APPLICANTS

The Enugu State Police Command in relation to the ongoing recruitment process made it known that applicants with tattoos would face automatic disqualification.

Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the PRO of the State Police Command informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) about this decision on Monday, the 6th of June, 2016. According to him, “Over aged people, tattooed persons, people with falsified results and statement of results of over five years and people with physical impairment will be disqualified from the exercise”.

Most of the criteria seemed fair to members of the public, however, the policy regarding tattoos incited several comments from people. Some praised the Police Command for this while some stated that appearance shouldn’t be a measure of performance as there are people without tattoos that have negative attributes and behave badly.

The recruitment is expected to last for 3 weeks and a total of 10,000 candidates will be selected.
