According to reports, at least 15
prisoners escaped from the Nsukka Prison in Enugu State on Tuesday, 9th
of August, in the middle of the night. It was stated that the prisoners
carefully opened their cells and scaled over the perimeter fence without any
prison official noticing anything.
Mr Lawrence Okonkwo, the Controller
of the Nsukka prison confirmed incident but refused to give in-depth details,
he further stated that steps are being taken to capture the escapees.
